Coupon Brag – July 23, 2016

Coupon Brag – July 23, 2016

Welcome to my first coupon brag on My Income Journey. I want to start coupon bragging to show you a realistic view of how my non-extreme couponing works. If you haven't yet, read my article "How to Coupon Without the Extreme" to get a detailed description of how I save money on groceries. Let's be real, this week wasn't an amazing week for coupons. I did still score a few good deals so I'll share those with you here. I got 10 cases of Sheba cat food, 3 packages of strawberries, and one power bar for only $3.25. Here's how it worked out: Sheba Cat Food: regularly $7.50/10, on sale for $5.00/10. I had a Red Plum July 17th coupon for buy 5 get 5 free. Total Spent: $2.50, Regular price $7.50. Driscoll's Strawberries: regularly $3.99, on sale for $1.25 (love the summer fruit sales!!), I had three driscoll's panel survey coupons for $0.50 off one package, my grocery store doubles coupons up to $1.00 so I get $1.00 off per package. Total Spent: $0.75, Regular Price $11.97. Power Bar: regularly $1.00, free Kroger Friday Download (although it was actually supposed to be a Gatorade Power Bar, but they were out so they let me substitute the Power Bar brand). Total Spent: $0.00, Regular Price $1.00 Final Total: $3.25 Regular Price Total: $20.47 Savings: $17.22 or 84% I took advantage of a few other okay deals, but not much else that was brag worthy. Back to school snacks and drinks should be on sale soon so I'm looking forward to those savings! In addition to coupon and sales savings, I have $.70/gal of gas on my Kroger  loyalty card that I need to use by the end of the month, plus I use a special gift card that gives me 5% back towards my daughter's gymnastics expenses, and I use a credit card that give 3% back on groceries. All these small savings add up…

Money Saving Tip – Call Your Providers

Money Saving Tip – Call Your Providers

If you have never called your phone, internet, or cable provider to ask for a discount then you're paying too much. Today I called our internet provider and will be saving about $15/month and got an insurance package that covers our modem and wiring. This promotion will last for 12 months and after that our bill will go back up again, but I won't let that happen. Before it expires I will call again and get setup with another promotion. Sometimes I'll randomly call even when a promotion isn't close to expiring just to see if there's anything else I can qualify for and sometimes that works too. I've been doing this for years and most providers have promotions for "valued" or "loyal" customers. Don't think that you need to switch providers or be a new customer to get a good deal. Companies want to keep you happy and should treat you right if you've been with them for awhile. If not, then switch. My phone call lasted 11 minutes and we'll save about $180 this next year. That's 11 minutes well spent!

Save Money On Groceries With Ibotta

Save Money on Groceries with ibotta

This post may contain affiliate links, see my disclosure for details. Today I used ibotta for the first time and am very happy with it! It had been recommended to me by lots of friends, but I had a really old cell phone that didn't have enough memory to download any more apps so I couldn't use it. It was very frustrating. Well my sweet husband randomly bought me a new phone last week and now I'm downloading all the money saving coupons and apps I wasn't able to use before!

No More Minimum Payout for Redbubble

Awesome announcement from Redbubble this week, they no longer have a minimum payout requirement. In the past you had to wait until you made $20 to receive your money, but now that's done with. As soon as you've made a sale you can request your money. YEA! If you've ever wanted to give POD companies a try, go for it! There's no risk (other than time) and it's a great way to get a passive income stream going. Check out my post on my favorite print on demand sites here.

My First Blogging Income

My First Blogging Income

I'm excited to announce that I have earned my first income as a blogger! I have been blogging for just a few months and am excited to see it paying off already. Thanks to my post about how to start your own website, I've earned my first affiliate commission! I just started this site in April 2016, started doing a bit of advertising in May, and basically neglected it in June because summer craziness and kids and vacations took over. I haven't done much as far as monetizing but am very grateful that the small amount I have done is working. I have big plans for August (when kids go back to school) and will start publishing income reports soon. Sign up for my newsletter to stay up to date. If you're thinking about starting your own blog, or creating a website for your business, then check out my posts about how to easily get going. It's a lot of fun, a lot of work, and very rewarding!
